project was a small-scale renovation for a young family in Brooklyn that needed to update their home to accommodate a growing family. The restoration of this four-story townhouse left the basement intact, as to not disturb the tenant, while completely redoing the top three floors. The goal was to open up the central living area to the backyard and update the floor plan for a more modern means of living. This was achieved by a full redesign of the first floor and the introduction of the beam to provide continuity throughout the narrow linear space. For the rest of the home, intimate but versatile spaces were created for the young family, pushing the creative boundaries of traditional spaces and ways of thinking in areas like the bathroom, bedroom, and family room
